Kathy leads the alumni relations team, creating engagement programs and volunteer opportunities that facilitate connections between MIT Sloan’s alumni, students, and the school.
Federal Grant Project Director
Kathy trained 250 community members to help a young person experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis. In addition, Kathy was the Community Liaison in the Social and Emotional Learning Department and expanded the training of school staff in Responsive Classroom practices.

Kathy led the collaborative that addresses the social and emotional well-being of children, youth, and families. Kathy directed programs including Safe Schools Healthy Students, Carol M. White Physical Education Program and Mentoring Opportunities for Youth.
- Kathy supervised a staff of 9 and managed a million dollar annual budget
- Kathy developed plans and led community wide efforts to establish The Newton Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization to sustain collaborations created under grants and to promote local charitable giving
- Certified QPR, Suicide Prevention Instructor
Kathy provided support and expertise in special events and sponsor/donor development for Family Reach Foundation, a financial lifeline to families fighting cancer.

Kathy worked to increase fundraising and led a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children with physical and intellectual disabilities and genetic disorders.

Kathy is a member of the Board of The Centre Street Food Pantry. Centre Street serves individuals and families from Newton and surrounding towns experiencing a shortage of food. Centre Street Kids Club provides families with additional essentials during school vacations and summer break.
Executive Director – Child Care Scholarship Fund
Kathy volunteered as the Executive Director managing all aspects of the program including community relations, applications, distribution of funds, provider and board of director relationships, and annual grant writing and reporting.
QPR Suicide Prevention Trainer
Kathy volunteered as a QPR, Suicide Prevention Trainer, a program supported by Newton Cares. QPR is a simple educational program that teaches ordinary citizens how to recognize a mental health emergency and how to get a person at risk the help they need.
Kathy has been a mentor for a young woman through highschool, college and into her career.Board Member & President

The TABC supported all NNHS sports and teams: 33 Sports – 1 Team
Down Syndrome Holiday Party
Kathy and her family have volunteered as Santa’s helpers for the Down Syndrome Holiday Party, an annual event for The Genesis Fund.
Kathy launched the first ever Newton Serves Day at the Kennard Estate where The Newton Partnership offices were located. Kathy and her team created a more welcoming environment.
Community Event Chair
Kathy was the event chair for Newton’s Touch a Truck, a free community event.
